John O’Neil, CPA

John O’Neil, CPA, brings over 15 years of experience in accounting and finance leadership in the San Diego life science industry. Prior to joining Artiva, he was the Vice President of Finance at eFFECTOR Therapeutics, a clinical-stage oncology company, where he led the company's accounting, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning, playing an instrumental role in taking the company public through a de-SPAC reverse merger in 2021. Prior to eFFECTOR, Mr. O’Neil spent eight years at van den Boom & Associates (vdB&A), a life science-focused accounting service firm in San Diego, where as a Director he supported a variety of life science companies at different stages of clinical development, servicing his clients as an outsourced accounting resource and managing teams operating as the outsourced internal audit function for public companies. Prior to vdB&A, Mr. O’Neil started his career in Ernst & Young’s assurance practice in San Diego, where he audited a number of companies across different industries including life science, real estate, and technology. Mr. O’Neil is a licensed CPA in the state of California (active) and received a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of San Diego.
